About PackDay

Made by someone who’s done the job.

PackDay was built by our founder, who worked as a dog handler for seven years, alongside pet sitting, dog walking, training and photography. It’s built from what he saw on the floor, for the people still doing that work.

What seven years on the floor teaches you

Most software for dog businesses is designed from an office. The work happens in a yard, a bathing room and a front desk, usually with a lead in one hand. Anyone who has worked a shift will know these.

  1. The clipboard by the door

Who’s in, who’s due, who has an allergy, whose meds are at noon. On most floors that lives on a clipboard or a whiteboard, which one person can read at a time and nobody can read from the yard. PackDay puts the day on one board everyone can see, on a phone, a tablet or the front desk.

  2. The group chat

Roster changes, shift swaps, “can someone cover Tuesday”, a note about a dog who was off his food. It all goes into a group chat and scrolls away. PackDay keeps rosters, swaps, clock-ins and handover notes where the next shift will actually find them.

  3. Typing the same name four times

A new client means typing the dog’s name into the booking app, the spreadsheet, the invoice and the phone. Every copy is a chance for a mistake, and a wrong allergy is never a small one. In PackDay a dog is entered once, and everything else reads from that.

  4. Owners want to see their dog’s day

The question at pick-up is always the same: how was their day? A photo and a few honest lines answer it better than anything. PackDay makes a report card quick enough to send for every dog, and gives owners a free app to keep them in.

So PackDay is built around a few promises

  • Built for the floor: big buttons, quick check-ins, and the next thing to do at the top.
  • One flat monthly price, with no booking fees, ever.
  • A free app for your clients, so they don’t need to pay to see their own dog.
  • Records that can’t be quietly changed, so staff, owners and businesses are all protected.
  • Your data stored in Sydney, and never sold.
  • Honest labels: the demo says it’s a demo, and an estimate says it’s an estimate.

Daycare, grooming, boarding and training all run on the same system, so a business that does two or three of them doesn’t need two or three apps.

Made in Perth, for Australian dog businesses

PackDay is built in Perth, Western Australia. It’s written in Australian English, priced in Australian dollars with GST shown plainly, and stores its data in Sydney. It’s designed around the rules Australian businesses work under, from the Spam Act for client messages to the Privacy Act for their details, and it exports timesheets in the formats Australian payroll software reads.

PackDay is in early access now. You can try the working prototype with sample dogs, and join the list to hear when accounts open.

Meet Bandit

Bandit is the face of PackDay. He’s a 10-year-old French bulldog, blind and almost fully deaf, and he still goes for his walk every day. He finds his way by smell, by routine, and by the people he trusts. That’s a fair description of a good dog business, too.
